Job Network Townsville ("we", "us") runs the website hosteljobs.com.au and the Job Network Townsville apps for iOS and Android. It connects hostel guests and other job seekers ("workers") with local businesses ("employers"). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, password (stored encrypted) or Google/Apple sign-in identifier.
- Profile details you choose to add: mobile number, nationality, country, photo, bio, skills, languages, work experience, qualifications and licences, availability, emergency contact, video introduction, resume and other documents.
- Employer details: business name, ABN, industry, contact name and phone, website, job listings.
- Activity: job applications, messages between workers and employers, interview and trial invitations, placements, reviews and reports.
- Hostel stay details where you check in through a participating hostel.
- Device details: a push-notification token for your phone (only if you allow notifications) and basic technical logs.
We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not sell personal information.
How we use it
- To run your account and show your profile to employers on the network when you apply or are discoverable.
- To deliver messages, applications and job alerts by in-app message, email, SMS and push notification, according to your settings.
- To review employers before they can post jobs, and to keep the network safe (handling reports, suspending misuse).
- To help you write applications and resumes using AI tools. AI suggestions are drafts only; you review and approve everything before it is sent.
Who we share it with
- Employers you apply to or message, and employers browsing the worker directory (contact details stay hidden until you connect).
- Service providers who help us run the service: cloud hosting and database, email delivery, SMS (Twilio), push notifications (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service) and AI text processing. They may store data outside Australia and may only use it to provide their service to us.
- Authorities where the law requires it.
Your choices
- Change email, SMS and push notification settings any time on your Account page or in your phone's settings.
- Edit or remove profile information on your profile page.
- Delete your account from the Account page in the website or app. This permanently removes your account, profile, uploaded files, applications and messages. Some records may be kept where the law requires (for example, reports of misconduct).
- Ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it by emailing contact@resty.com.au.
Security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and access is restricted by account. We keep information while your account is active and delete it when you delete your account. Inactive information may be removed after a reasonable period.
Children
The service is for people aged 18 and over.
